Job Description
The Controller role at Warm Beach Senior Community is an onsite opportunity in Stanwood, Washington. The position directs accounting functions, financial reporting, audits, budgeting, internal controls, and regulatory compliance for the community.
Responsibilities
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts, generate accurate monthly financial statements, and analyze results [monthly].
- Oversee the annual budget process for the Senior Community [10%].
- Coordinate the annual audit, ensuring timely and precise preparation of work papers and statements [10%].
- Continuously assess financial systems and procedures, proposing improvements as needed [5%].
- Approve amendments to the chart of accounts, including adding new departments or accounts [5%].
- Analyze financial trends and contribute to special projects as assigned [10%].
- Set achievable short and long-term objectives for supervised staff [10%].
- Conduct annual staff evaluations.
- Provide ongoing staff training as required.
- Oversee payroll and government compliance for accounts payable (L&I tax, 1099s, 1095c) [5%].
- Serve as backup for accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions [10%].
- Manage the private loan program, including note renewals, interest payments, and tax reporting [5%].
- Maintain internal controls over the Senior Community's financial reports and systems [5%].
- Advise staff on financial policies and interpretations [5%].
- Manage cash needs to ensure liquidity and appropriate returns [5%].
- Perform other related duties as assigned [5%].
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
- Minimum seven years in accounting or finance, including at least two years in a supervisory role.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks accounting software and ADP is required.
- PointClickCare experience preferred.
- Comprehensive knowledge of accounting and tax laws, regulations, and reporting procedures.
- Strong understanding of all accounting functions.
- Self-motivated with minimal supervision.
- Creative problem solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Proficiency in spreadsheet and word processing software, including Excel and Word.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe, harassment-free workplace and a non-discriminatory environment.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with colleagues.
- Ability to foster a service oriented and innovative environment that benefits internal customers and the accounting team.
- Long-term care experience preferred.
- This is an onsite position in Stanwood, WA, not remote.
- Minimum two years of QuickBooks Online experience [Required].
- Three years of experience with payroll and government accounts payable compliance (L&I tax, 1099s, 1095c) [Required].
