Job Description

Florence County Human Services in Florence, WI is seeking a Financial Manager to lead the fiscal operations for programs serving children, families, and vulnerable adults, including budget management, financial reporting, grant compliance, and coordination with county and state fiscal requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the department's fiscal operations for programs serving children, families, and vulnerable adults, ensuring accurate accounting, timely processing, and strong internal controls across all funded activities.
  • Manage the department budget from planning through execution, including variance monitoring, forecasting, and regular reports to leadership.
  • Lead the preparation and delivery of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports to support program oversight and strategic decision making.
  • Ensure grant compliance by adhering to terms, reporting requirements, and applicable regulations, while maintaining audit readiness.
  • Coordinate with the County Finance Office and state fiscal authorities to align operations with relevant fiscal policies and funding rules.
  • Collaborate with department leadership to steward public funds responsibly and identify opportunities for efficiency, risk mitigation, and program impact.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience in governmental accounting, budgeting, or grant management preferred.
  • Strong analytical abilities and proficiency in financial reporting.
  • Public sector or human services fiscal experience preferred.
