Interim Accountant

Vaco by Highspring is seeking an Interim Accountant to support a manufacturing client through an accounting cleanup and a process improvement initiative. This onsite role in Farmington, CT emphasizes fixed asset cleanup, core general accounting, and audit readiness, with a hands-on, execution-focused approach to delivering results. The position offers a competitive hourly rate of USD 55 to 60 and presents an opportunity to influence controls and financial clarity during a defined project window.

Responsibilities

• Support fixed asset cleanup efforts by updating and completing account reconciliations, rollforwards, and depreciation schedules
• Assist with reviewing and organizing fixed asset balances and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy and audit readiness
• Help enhance and refine fixed asset standard operating procedures (SOPs) and related internal controls
• Provide general accounting support, including preparation and reconciliation of prepaid expense and accrual accounts
• Assist with month-end close activities as needed, including journal entry preparation, account tie-outs, and balance sheet support
• Help standardize and organize documentation related to fixed asset processes and controls
• Maintain well-organized supporting schedules and files to improve visibility, consistency, and audit preparedness

Requirements

• Strong general accounting background with hands-on experience supporting balance sheet accounts
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• Proven self-starter who can work independently, manage priorities, and adapt in a dynamic environment
• Strong ERP system experience and advanced Excel skills
