Job Description

Senior Lead Credit Risk and Approval Officer role within Wells Fargo's Independent Risk Management team, providing credit risk oversight for the Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB Banking) division.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a key member of the Independent Risk Management team, overseeing credit risk for CIB Banking and supporting CIB objectives while upholding prudent underwriting standards and overall portfolio quality.
  • Maintain credit quality and portfolio health by delivering informed risk guidance, recommendations, and approvals; conduct regular portfolio evaluations and reviews of deteriorating or problem credits, escalating matters when warranted.
  • Develop and sustain a solid understanding of bank credit policy, regulatory standards and guidance, and risk rating applicability; provide leadership and guidance to CIB Banking teams and partners on these matters.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate industry and sector knowledge.
  • Collaborate with product teams, subject matter experts, and other institutional resources to inform decisions and recommendations.
  • Regularly review pipeline activity with CIB Banking teams and assist in managing deadlines, coverage team processes, and client expectations.
  • Provide leadership and guidance on due diligence and analytical focus, particularly for merger and acquisition financing and complex deals.
  • Interact with internal and external customers.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of credit risk and approval experience, or an equivalent combination of work experience, training, military service, or education.
