Overview
The successful candidate will lead the accounting function, safeguarding the accuracy and integrity of financial records while ensuring adherence to applicable standards and regulations. This position combines oversight of routine accounting cycles with analysis and reporting that informs budgeting, forecasting, and organizational strategy in a dynamic setting.
Responsibilities
- Administer the full general ledger lifecycle, including reconciliations, journal entries, and balance sheet closes to maintain precise financial records.
- Direct accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections in line with policy.
- Prepare comprehensive financial statements and reports aligned with GAAP, IFRS, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct in-depth financial and account analysis to support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning efforts.
- Enforce internal controls and establish internal audit procedures to protect assets and improve operational efficiency.
- Manage cash operations, including cash flow forecasting, bank reconciliations, and maintenance of banking relationships.
- Support technical accounting functions such as payroll processing, regulatory compliance, and the implementation of accounting software like Sage, Xero, or QuickBooks.
Requirements
- Extensive knowledge of accounting principles including GAAP, IFRS, double-entry bookkeeping, and regulatory standards relevant to non-profit and governmental sectors.
- Proven experience with financial management software such as Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, or equivalent systems.
- Strong understanding of debits and credits, account reconciliation, balance sheet management, and account analysis.
- Ability to produce clear financial reports for internal stakeholders and external regulators.
- Expertise in compliance procedures with public accounting experience considered a strong plus.
- Excellent analytical skills with a solid grasp of budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and general ledger reconciliation techniques.
- Effective communication skills for presenting complex financial data across departments to optimize financial performance.
