Job Description

Vaco by Highspring invites a Senior Accountant to join the Corporate Accounting team for a global consumer products company. This onsite role in New York offers high visibility across multiple business units and exposure to core financial operations.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the monthly close by drafting journal entries, recording accruals, and managing prepayments, while ensuring timely and accurate financial reflection of activities.
  • Execute balance sheet reconciliations and analyze variances to identify underlying drivers and support accurate reporting.
  • Handle and analyze large datasets using Excel and ERP platforms, ensuring data integrity and reliable insights for decision making.
  • Perform inter-entity allocations across multiple business units and divisions, aligning with corporate allocation methodologies.
  • Support fixed asset accounting and capitalization processes, including tracking substantial asset activity and depreciation schedules.
  • Collaborate with FP&A and other business units to ensure accurate financial reporting and alignment with strategic goals.
  • Assist with external audit requests by compiling schedules and documentation to facilitate a smooth review process.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and drive efficiency gains across close, reporting, and data handling workflows.
  • Assist in preparing financial statements and internal reports to support management decision making and governance.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5+ years of accounting experience, with a preference for corporate accounting or general ledger backgrounds.
  • Solid understanding of month-end close procedures and the ability to apply them consistently.
  • Experience managing accruals and prepayments within a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in balance sheet reconciliations and identifying reconciliation drivers.
  • Analytical capabilities with the ability to interpret financial data and extract actionable insights.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP, and SUMIFS, with the capacity to handle large datasets efficiently.
  • Experience in mid to large size organizations, with a preference for familiarity with complex multi-entity structures.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to operate effectively under deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
