Job Description

Join Wells Fargo’s Mid-Cap Investment Banking team as an Associate, where you will support client coverage, industry research, and deal origination and execution across the Industrials and Consumer & Retail sectors. Based onsite in Chicago or Los Angeles, this role partners with senior bankers to broaden the bank’s regional investment banking footprint and deliver integrated client solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Support the business strategy and related teams to grow Wells Fargo’s investment banking activities in the region.
  • Assist senior bankers with relationship management aligned to ongoing coverage of Wells Fargo Commercial Banking clients.
  • Prepare marketing documents, including pitch books, confidential offering memoranda, and management presentations.
  • Stay informed on key market developments and develop knowledge of target clients and market dynamics.
  • Coordinate with internal and external resources to arrange client meetings and important engagements.
  • Perform financial analysis, including comparable transactions and public company analysis.
  • Build detailed financial models used for valuation purposes.
  • Conduct extensive financial and industry due diligence to evaluate risk and return parameters of a transaction.
  • Utilize Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint to present various analyses.
  • Manage transaction logistics, including organizing data rooms and working group lists.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of Investment Banking Program experience, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education.

Desired Qualifications

  • 1+ year of experience across the full M&A transaction life cycle, including origination and execution.
  • Prior experience at a large investment banking platform and/or leading securities firm.
  • Robust modeling experience relating to M&A and LBO transactions.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, attention to detail, and willingness to take on significant responsibility.
  • High motivation, strong interpersonal skills, and broad intellectual capacity.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team while meeting strict deadlines and quality standards.
  • Experience in demanding, collaborative, team-focused environments with high ethics and integrity.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.

Job Expectations

  • Willingness to work on-site in accordance with current office requirements.
  • Ability to work additional hours as needed.
  • FINRA Series 79 must be completed within 90 days of hire if not already held (FINRA recognized equivalents accepted).
  • FINRA Series 63 (or 66) must be completed within 90 days of hire if not already held (FINRA recognized equivalents accepted).
  • For exams obtained after 9/30/2018, the Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) co-requisite may be required.
  • Subject to FINRA background screening and ongoing regulatory requirements; internal transfers comply with 17 CFR 240.17f-2 and FINRA Bylaws, with additional policy requirements for outside activities and personal investing.

Salary

Base salary range: $150,000 - $250,000 per year. In Illinois and California offices, the first-year base is typically $175,000 and the second-year base is $200,000.
