This hybrid remote role based in Kingston, NY supports a portfolio of small business loan and deposit relationships at M&T Bank, with a salary range of USD 94,400 to 157,400 per year.

Overview

This position manages a defined portfolio of loan and deposit relationships with small business clients, pursuing new business, evaluating risk, and making credit decisions while servicing existing clients through the bank's relationship management program. The role collaborates with branch partners to market to business customers and cross-sell the bank's broader product suite.

Responsibilities

  • Cultivate new business relationships with prospects while servicing the current commercial client base; meet performance targets set by management.
  • Partner with branch teams to optimize sales to business customers and cross-sell bank products; develop a network with accountants, attorneys, and other centers of influence.
  • Assess credit data and loan requests to determine appropriate loan structures that balance risk and revenue; negotiate with underwriters and clients to optimize outcomes.
  • Meet revenue targets ranging from $150 million to $400 million.
  • Generate loan production between $4 million and $8 million.
  • Produce deposit balances between $400 million and $2 million.
  • Oversee a loan portfolio valued at $7.5 million to $20 million.
  • Manage approximately 15 to 40 relationship-managed clients.
  • Engage in all business banking and retail sales sprints; achieve call targets and product sales goals such as cash management and Visa Merchant services; participate in civic and cultural programs; apply prescribed selling techniques to maximize opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum four years of related sales or banking experience, or an equivalent combination.
  • Proficiency with personal computers and department software.
  • Ability to read and interpret financial statements and tax returns.
  • Solid credit analysis skills to evaluate loan requests.
  • Strong knowledge of Cash Management, Merchant Services, and Trade Services offerings for business banking clients, with the ability to identify sales opportunities within these product lines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills.

Scope of Responsibilities

  • Demonstrated ability to sell effectively to prospects and existing clients while retaining relationships.
  • Collaborate closely with internal contacts to service clients and ensure seamless delivery of bank services.
