The Financial Accountant supports an assigned portfolio of properties by maintaining accurate and timely financial records. Reporting directly to the Senior Financial Accountant, the role centers on daily bookkeeping functions, including posting journal entries, managing accruals, and performing reconciliations to ensure the integrity of each hotel’s balance sheets. The position ensures that all entries are properly supported and that documentation is organized for audit purposes. Responsibilities may include financial analysis or direct communication with property owners, but the primary focus remains on the operational accounting processes and procedures of the hotels. Prior hotel financial experience is preferred. Hybrid or remote work potential.

Responsibilities

Manage the daily bookkeeping functions for a portfolio of properties, ensuring accurate and timely journal entries and integrity across the general ledger.
Record monthly accruals for property taxes, insurance, utilities, payroll, management fees, franchise fees, utilities, etc.
Reconcile and maintain balance sheet and bank accounts monthly and quarterly, ensuring timely clearance of outstanding items.
Maintain thorough and organized support for all journal entries and accruals, ensuring compliance with audit and corporate standards.
Complete weekly cash positions and post necessary cash transactions to the ledger daily.
Analyze P&L statements, perform variance analysis, and conduct financial performance reviews to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights.
Provide initial analysis and commentary on financial discrepancies and trends for review by the Senior Financial Accountant, helping to develop analytical skills.
Participate in financial review meetings to gain exposure to the development of hotel financial strategies.
Perform all monthly and quarterly balance sheet reconciliations for assigned properties, ensuring accounts are reconciled with appropriate supporting documentation and any discrepancies are addressed within the month.
Assist with internal, SOC and third-party audit preparation by providing accurate and comprehensive reconciliation documentation and supporting schedules.
Provide assistance in gathering due diligence documentation for transitions such as property purchases, sales, or refinancing.
Review hotel ledger reports, including the guest ledger, AR aging, and advanced deposit ledgers. Identify areas of concern or discrepancies in accordance with Concord policies and communicate these issues to your direct supervisor, as well as the Regional VP of Operations. If the issue remains unresolved after 30 days, escalate the concern to the SVP of Accounting.
Proactively identify opportunities for process improvements within the accounting workflow, collaborating with the Centralized Controller and Senior Leadership to implement enhancements that improve accuracy and efficiency.
Provide training and support to the accounting team, sharing best practices for maintaining compliance and ensuring financial integrity.
Participate in owner relations calls to understand owner expectations, provide financial data, and build relationships with property management and ownership.

Role Overview

This position leads the credit underwriting oversight for the Small Business Credit Underwriting Campus. The role ensures compliance with credit policy, underwriting standards, operational procedures, and regulatory requirements. Essential Job Functions

Monitor and analyze QA trends and key risk indicators to proactively identify emerging risks and recommend corrective actions.
Design and perform QA testing of Small Business credit decisions to ensure adherence to Small Business decision guidelines and support compliance with Fair and Responsible Banking (FARB) requirements.
Oversee the accurate and timely assignment of customer risk ratings for Small Business credit customers using BOT technology.
Partner with the Department Manager and Operations Manager to ensure all departmental procedures are current, accurate, and reviewed at least annually.
Lead the integration of credit policy changes into Small Business underwriting guidelines and departmental operating procedures, including supporting communication and rollout to underwriting staff.

Collaborate with BRC Risk Advisors and testing teams to manage Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) risks and associated controls.

Contribute to the development of training materials or targeted coaching to address QA findings and improve underwriting consistency.
Promote a strong risk and compliance culture through ongoing engagement with underwriting leadership and staff.
Provide oversight, coaching, and guidance to management assigned staff to support performance, quality, and compliance objectives.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree with preferred concentration in business or related coursework, or equivalent relevant work experience.
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a commercial credit underwriting environment, with Small Business credit experience strongly preferred.
Strong working knowledge of Commercial Credit Policies and underwriting standards, preferably with working knowledge of Key's commercial credit policies and underwriting standards.
Recent people management or leadership experience.
Strong knowledge of commercial credit systems and strong technological proficiency.
Proven ability to effectively collaborate with underwriters, risk management, compliance partners, and other key stakeholders.

Compensation and Benefits

This position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $71,000.00 - $125,000.00 annually.
